Equs/Nebula: 1973-1976
Members All Together: Bob Scalzo, Kevin Buck, Mike Daniels, Tony Barone, Lew Bowman, Bill Anderson
First band I was ever in, just playing the classics (they were "New" songs back then). Even had a phase where we dressed up like "Kiss", had flash pods and everything. Played parties, dances, sports nights, and a couple bars.
Pinnacle: 1977-1979
Members: Craig Neese, Ray Gniazdowski, Rick Barone, Tony Barone, Lew Bowman, Dave Yergy.
First "big" band I was ever in, playing the classics Styx, Steely Dan, Foreigner, Jackson Brown, ELP, Billy Joel, (once again, they were "New" songs back then). Performed at bars in Lockport, Olcott, Buffalo, and Medina, plus a few highschool events.
White Lies: 1980-1989
Members: Todd Turner, Jim Dillman, Lew Bowman, Doug Townsend, Wayne Fabizewski, Jeff Fire, Marc Deiner, Bobby Andelora, and many more...
This one started out three piece, playing all over Buffalo, Southerntier, a steady 3 night gig once a month at "Daddys" in the Falls, and even playing showcases in some remote areas, but eventually evolved through many incarnations, mostly as an "Original" act, and on to a very popular cover act headed by Bobby Andelora near the bands last few years.
Raisin' Cain': 1979-1980
Members: Jim Dillman, Doug Townsend, Laurie Brucato, Lew Bowman, Todd Turner.
First "Chick" band I was ever in, playing the classics Billy Squire, Sammy Hagar, Heart, Pat Benetar, Judas Priest, (once again, they were "New" songs back then). Performed only a couple times before we had to replace Laurie with Todd at lead vocals and quickly became "White Lies".
Vincent Michaels Band: 1990-1993
Members: Vincent Michael, Geoff Perry, Lew Bowman, Frank Michaels, Mark Lyons, Teddy Reinhardt.
Mostly together to complete an original album written by Vince, and then eventually playing all over Buffalo, Darien, and the Southerntier as a cover act, Vincent Michael was extremely popular as a cover and original artist in the WNY area. This incarnation of the band never had a steady drummer, so we just had Mark or Teddy fill in when they could, but what a blast we had!
Lucky Pierre: 1993-1994
Members: Tim Gurwitz, Jim Dillman, Lew Bowman, Mark Lyons.
Three Piece cover act that briefly played the Buffalo area, switching drummers (from Jim to Mark) halfway through their tenure as a band. Most notable for it's name (I loved it, it walked that fine line between stupid and cool).
The Cats: 1994-1995
Members: Tony Barone, Jim Dillman, Lew Bowman
Three Piece cover act that briefly played the Niagara Falls area. Most notable for reuniting two long time friends, bassist extraordinaire Tony Barone and Lew Bowman.
The Fog: 1995-1999
Members All Together: Corey Donovan, Joe Principi, Bob Scalzo, Mike Daniels, Ken Nugent, Greg Sharrow, Lew Bowman, Steve Carveth, Chris Sedano.
Named by Ken Nugent (his son actually said it as a joke), the name "The Fog" originally stood for "Four Old Guys" and then eventually "Five Old Guys". A popular Niagara Falls band playing classics and new alternative music, this band had the winning combo of some old, and some new, which seemed to appeal greatly to their audiences in the late 90's.
Seventh Sign: 2000 - 2005
Members All Together: Corey Donovan, Renee Harris, Bob Scalzo, Mike Daniels, Ken Nugent, Dan Bird, Lew Bowman, Steve Carveth, Stevo Harris, Tony Barone.
Headed up by Lew, Seventh Sign went through quite a few incarnations till finally settling into it's prime line-up featuring founders Lew Bowman and vocalist Corey Donovan, along with Tony Barone on bass, Renee Harris on Keys, and Dan Bird on Drums, winning the 2005 NAMMA award for best local band.
The Ken Nugent Band: 2004 - 2006
Members: Ken Nugent, Renee Harris, Dan Bird, Lew Bowman,Buddy Huber, Stevo Harris.
A southern rock tribute band, featuring the dual guitar whammy of Buddy and Lew, The Ken Nugent Band was a fun diversion and treat for those tired of all the run-of-the-mill classic rock bands.
Black Star: 1974-1977
Members All Together: Brett Miller, Louie Destino, Tom Smith, Steve Schul, Lew Bowman
Fun little garage band that played strictly keg-parties - we only learned enough of a song to get to the point where we could improvise the rest - really learned a lot of my chops right here.
Eruption: 1978-1979
Members: Brett Miller, Ray Pawlack, Lenny Bender, Louie Destino, Lew Bowman
Another version of the "Party Playing" garage style band - we lost our dear bass playing friend Leonard Bender to a tragic boating accident. We had fun while it lasted. Came in third at the battle of the bands at our local high school. We were so wasted I can't believe we actually were able to play.
West of the Mark: 2004 - 2005
Members All Together: Jay Urbaniak, Joe Gambino,, Mark (Sombody or other), a variety of drummers including old band mate Dan Bird, Ken Nugent, Jan Krupa, Renee Harris, and eventually many others.
Second forray into a country band - first one that actually gigged.
Opened for "Confederate Railroad" and a couple other headliners.
Got ousted from the band due to my sweet temperament "can't we all just get along"? Well maybe if you learned your fucking songs!
